Vinesh Phogat returns home: “Our fight is not over yet,” she says

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who returned to India on Saturday, was greeted with love and support at the Delhi airport. After the tough experience at the Paris Olympics, where she was disqualified for missing the weight limit by just 100 grams in the 50kg final, Vinesh’s spirit remains strong.

Although her appeal for the joint silver medal was rejected, keeping her in Paris longer than expected, Vinesh did not lose hope. Her resolve has only grown.

As she landed in Delhi, there was tight security due to the large crowd eager to see her. Among those who welcomed her was London Olympics bronze medallist Gagan Narang, who led the Indian team in Paris. He shared a photo with Vinesh and called her a true champion. He said, “Vinesh inspires many, whether she has an Olympic medal or not.”

Vinesh is now heading to her home village Balali in Haryana, where everyone is excited to see her. “The whole village is waiting to welcome her,” shared her brother, Harvinder Phogat. A big celebration will be held in Balali to honour Vinesh not only for her achievements but also for her unwavering spirit. Her message is clear: the fight is not over yet.
