Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Shraddha Kapoor and others, is currently drawing huge numbers of viewers to the theatres. Released on August 15 and directed by Amar Kaushik, the horror-comedy quickly became a hit. Just 10 days after its release, it has become the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024.
Breaking the numbers: Stree 2 earned ₹8.5 crore from pre-release screenings. On its opening day, it grossed a whopping ₹51.8 crore. However, the collection dropped to ₹31.4 crore on the first Friday. The film bounced back with strong word-of-mouth over the weekend, earning ₹43.85 crore on Saturday and ₹55.9 crore on Sunday, taking its first-week total in India to ₹291.65 crore.
By the 10th day, Stree 2 had grossed ₹342.15 crore in India, taking its domestic gross to ₹410 crore. According to Saccanilk, including ₹75 crore from international markets, the film’s worldwide gross reached ₹485 crore. Bollywood Hungama reported even higher figures, stating that the film’s total gross was around ₹505 crore, surpassing the total collections of Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, which grossed ₹337.2 crore.
Meanwhile, according to Bollywood Hungama, another 2024 hit Shaitan starring Ajay Devgn, Jyothika and R Madhavan has earned ₹211.06 crore, making it the third highest-grossing Hindi film of the year. With Stree 2 dominating the box office, all eyes are on how “Kalki 2898 AD” will perform on its opening day.
